Welcome to the herd!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Honey, We Shrunk the LORD!

Psalm 115:11-13

You who fear him, trust in the LORD—he is their help and shield. The LORD remembers us and will bless us: He will bless the house of Israel, he will bless the house of Aaron, he will bless those who fear the LORD—small and great alike.

Psalm 31:19

How great is Your goodness which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in You.

Good morning ladies,

I feel like I have been cheated.

Do you remember the movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids? It tells the story of a professor who accidentally shrinks his kids and his neighbor's kids to 1/4 of an inch with his electro-magnetic shrink ray and sends them out into the backyard with the trash.

That’s what I feel like we have done with God. We have shrunken Him to an acceptable size, something we are comfortable with, and then because a small God is rather worthless, many people just threw Him out.

In 1679 John Bunyan wrote: Christian let God’s distinguishing love to you be a motive for you to fear Him greatly. He has put His fear in your heart and may not have given that blessing to you neighbor perhaps not to your husband, your wife, your child, or your parent. Oh what an obligation should this thought lay upon your heart to greatly fear the Lord! Remember also that this fear of the Lord is His treasure, a choice jewel, given only to favorites, and to those who are greatly loved.

Notice that fearing God is referred to as a blessing, a treasure, a choice jewel, given only to favorites and to those who are greatly loved.

Is that how you think of it? Is that what you were taught?

I have been told many times by well meaning Christians that God does not want us to fear Him. But that’s a lie. God does want us to fear Him. He blesses those who do.

Love,
Jill
