Welcome to the herd!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Choked by Worry

Matthew 13:22

The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.

Mark 4:18-19

Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.

Luke 8:14

The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.

Good morning ladies,

I don’t usually send out z-mails on Saturday but yesterday I was praying for you and God reminded me of something else that has His people burdened-the worries of life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desire for other things.

Lately I have been getting honked at a lot. I don’t know if my driving has deteriorated or if people are just more stressed. I think it is the second.

And every time it happens I can’t help thinking God did not intend His people to live this way. He did not intend us to be so stressed that we don’t have fifteen seconds to wait for a slower driver. He didn’t intend us to be so consumed with anger that it overflows at the slightest provocation. And he didn’t intend for us to be grasping and clawing for things that have no eternal value.

He intended us to live a life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control because that is the fruit of the Spirit.

If you are not feeling “fruitful” today it might be because you are allowing the world to choke it out.

Philippians 4:6-8
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Love,
Jill
