Welcome to the herd!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

God's Timing

Numbers 14:40-45

Early the next morning they went up toward the high hill country. "We have sinned," they said. "We will go up to the place the LORD promised." But Moses said, "Why are you disobeying the LORD's command? This will not succeed! Do not go up, because the LORD is not with you. You will be defeated by your enemies, for the Amalekites and Canaanites will face you there. Because you have turned away from the LORD, he will not be with you and you will fall by the sword." Nevertheless, in their presumption they went up toward the high hill country, though neither Moses nor the ark of the LORD's covenant moved from the camp. Then the Amalekites and Canaanites who lived in that hill country came down and attacked them and beat them down all the way to Hormah.

Good morning ladies,

I sat here for three hours this morning trying to write you a z-mail. Nothing worked so I finally gave up and went to make breakfast for Katherine who is home sick with an ear infection.

While scrambling her eggs I started thinking about obedience.

Obedience has two sides. It is the things we do AND the things we do not do.

Doing God’s work in God’s timing is where we all want to be.

In Numbers God told the Israelites to go into the Promised Land, but they were scared and didn’t go. When they found out that God was going to punish them for their disobedience, they suddenly decided to obey. By that time it was too late and God told them not to go. He told them very plainly-I WILL NOT BE WITH YOU.

But they went anyway and got beat.

God promises to go before us and fight for us when we go where He wants us to go, He does not promise that when we barge ahead on our own, or presumptuous wander off course thinking we know best.

We don’t.

He does.

If you want to live a life blessed by God obey, DO what He is telling you to do and STOP doing everything else.

James 1:25
But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

Love,
Jill
