Welcome to the herd!
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Good morning
Zebras,
I love you.
Everyone who
knows our family knows we are Marvel fans.
Gary loved Marvel as a boy and he passed that love on to the kids. While some fathers played catch, Gary lined
up the plastic X-Men and lead the kids in a huge imagination games. Because of that God has used Marvel to help
me explain the sometimes-unexplainable things to Gary.
For example, at
the beginning of all of this, when I was wrestling with how to explain the
changes God had made in me, He told me to tell Gary I was Spiderman. So, I did and because it was from God, he had
already told Gary the same thing.
But even if you
don’t have this weird God relationship with Marvel, I think it would be impossible
to miss the Biblical message in Thor Ragnarok.
Ragnarok, is
the Asgardian equivalent of Armageddon. (Asgard is Thor’s home planet.) I don’t want to give away the ending but
suffice it to say, biblically we know, prophecy always comes true.
Throughout the
movie Thor’s actions are driven by the fact that he knows prophecy and he is
trying desperately to stop it. In the
end, he wasn’t strong enough to keep it from happening, but his actions did
make a difference.
Zebras, as I said
yesterday, our actions, if built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ and done
at God’s request make a difference. But
if they are done for any other reason, they are simply wood, hay and stubble
destined to be burned away. And it is hugely
important God’s people learn the difference
1 Corinthians
3:11–15 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is
Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on
the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— each one’s
work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be
revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the
foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer
loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
None of us are
not strong enough to prevent the disaster that coming upon the earth, but each
of us have the power to pray and work towards helping people escape.
Love,
Jill
P.S. If you
need God to give you a sense of urgency, and you don’t hate superhero movies, pray
about going to see Thor, asking God, before you go in, if there is something He
needs you to see.
